Fantasy basketball for beginners: building your first NBA lineup
How fantasy basketball works: 10 player squads, backcourt and frontcourt, weekly starters, captains and how every stat turns into points.
Fantasy basketball follows the NBA season. Players appear in three or four games a week, so every night brings new points.
Your squad
- 10 players: 5 backcourt (guards) and 5 frontcourt (forwards and centers).
- Budget of 100.0m and at most 2 players from the same NBA team.
Starters and captain
Each week you start five players, with at least two from each court. Your captain scores double, so pick someone with plenty of games that week.
How points are scored
- Point scored: 1
- Rebound: 1
- Assist: 2
- Steal: 3
- Block: 3
All round players who fill the stat sheet are often worth more than pure scorers.
Transfers
You get 2 free transfers every week. They do not roll over, so use them.
Tips
- Count games: a player with four games usually beats a better player with two.
- Follow injury news before the deadline.
- Steals and blocks are worth a lot: defensive specialists are bargains.
